Subject: Fw: [LMSarcoma] More on Virotherapy - Dr. Takahashi
Date: Wednesday, January 21, 2004 4:40 AM

this dr finally has a 'timeline' for his vaccine therapy. i think the clinical trial is to begin in 12 months but he may be able to start taking patients in as early as six. i have no idea of the requirements or exact details of the vaccine. i do know that delal and kaja have been in touch with each other.

this article isn't specifically about the lms vaccine but, according to kaja, is an article about the type of vaccine dr takahashi is going to use.

Hi listmembers,

Just wanted to let you know that there is an
interesting article in the October issue of
Scientific American on virotherapy.

http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?chanID=sa006&articleID=00023290-03BC-
1F5D-905980A84189EEDF

If you read through to page 2, you will see a subtitle
"Homing In on the Target". This section explains two main
strategies of the virotherapy: transductional targeting &
transcriptional targeting. Then on page 3, under the
subtitle "Other Strategies", it explains how it is possible
to combine the two strategies together to ensure greater
effectiveness & safety. This combined virotherapy is what
Dr. Takahashi's group has developed for LMS. The promotor
(genetic switchs) they use is Calponin.

It is a very good article for anyone interested in learning
about virotherapy.

Love,
Kaja
